Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival 2011
Chris, Ginette and I are trekking down to Nu-Yorik for Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival 2011. But we're not trekking at all, we're actually taking a plane for once. It's going to be great.
TCAF 2011 is over
Thanks to everyone who came out to The Toronto Comic Arts Festival this year and all of the exhibitors that took part in our small press room, BLESS THIS PRESS. We had a really successful weekend and had a ton of fun with a lot of good friends.

Taking place during TCAF on in The Bram and Bluma Appel Salon on Toronto Reference Library’s second floor, BLESS THIS PRESS features 2 days worth of upcoming and avant garde comic creators, print makers and illustrators including Closed Caption Comics, Ines Estrada, Lala Albert, and Michael Comeau, curated by and featuring Ginette Lapalme, Chris Kuzma and Patrick Kyle of Wowee Zonk. The New York Art Book Fair
I (Patrick) Will be at The New York Art Book Fair this weekend.
I'll have tons of copies of Wowee Zonk 3 and Pobody's Nurfect, as well as a bunch of other new zines and prints. I will be sitting with our friends Ryan Dodgson and Jesjit Gill. See you there!

TCAF 2010
The Toronto Comic Arts Festival this past weekend was a real success. Thank you to Chris Butcher and The Beguiling for allowing us to curate The Small Press Schooner room and hang out at the festival all weekend. Cheers to everyone who came an exhibited with us!
Special Congratulations to our good friend and Michael DeForge for his Doug Wright Award on Saturday night! Michael's comic LOSE is also published by Koyama Press, and is really fantastic. If you haven't read it already, what are you waiting for? Congrats again to Michael and to our publisher Koyama Press!
Congratulations to Marc Bell, Seth and their publisher Drawn and Quarterly for their two awards! I encourage everyone to check out Marc's winning book Hot Potatoe and also the new D&Q book Catland Empire by Keith Jones. They are both really wonderful.
Thanks to everyone for coming out to TCAF and seeing our work and buying our books. It was a pleasure.

Wowee Zonk and The Toronto Comic Arts Festival
Anyone who came to The Toronto Comic Arts Festival in 2009 may remember a funny little glass encased room with some garbage bags and coloured paper stuck all over it. It looked like this.
Myself, Chris and Ginette called this hovel our home for the weekend and sold some of our friend's books in it and also sold some of our own! It was a sad hour when we had to tear it all down and go home. Sometimes in the evening as we sit in our Boston Pizza, warm schooners in our mitts, we reminisce about our darling room and each of it's little quirks and we wonder when we will ever see it again.
Our woe finally came to an end when we conceived (With the help of Chris Butcher of the Beguiling and Broken Pencil Magazine) The Small Press Schooner. The Small Press Schooner (named after our favourite nautical beverage) is new room at this year's Toronto Comic Arts Festival that will serve as an exhibition space for emerging Toronto comic artists, illustrators and printmakers. But if we want to fill this boat, we need a crew.
If you are interested in exhibiting in The Small Press Schooner on either Saturday, May 8th or Sunday, May 9th, Please go HERE and fill out an application.
Get on board and come and sell some of your artwork.

Mysteriis
Three Mysterious characters were spotted traipsing around Dufferin Grove park early friday morning while happy go lucky ice skaters, blissfully unaware, skated gaily at the near by arena. Disaster was narrowly averted when the three creatures, who were investigating a hovel, vanished without a trace.
A species from some far off realm?
They might have a book coming out.
Free Wowee Zonk at The Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival.
Chris Kuzma and I are going to be attending The Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival this coming Saturday.
When we had just barely finished The first Issue of Wowee Zonk (it was actually not finished, the cover only had a single layer silkscreen print) Chris and I brought it down to MOCCA in New York and distributed a nubmer of copies for free. In a similar fashion, we're bringing a stack of very finished Wowee Zonk 2's to hand out at The Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival.
If you're going to be there this weekend, look for the idiots with stacks of comics.
Mass Black/Comic Vice

Black Mass is a comic book by Patrick Kyle that follows the Story of TURDSWALLO BLACKTEEFT, The world's most pathetic person! Continuing the tale yarned in Issue 1, Turdswallo is traveling to Memphis, Tennessee, to visit Graceland, but winds up getting himself into great danger when he encounters dark wizards, grim fortune tellers and the follies of time travel!
Black Mass #2 continues the humourous tale and delves deeper into the world of black magic and the occult.

Patrick Kyle is an Artist and illustrator from Toronto. He is the co-founder and editor of the toronto comic book anthology Wowee Zonk. Patrick has been self publishing comics since 2005.

SPELUNKIN’ FER CULKIN is a three dimensional installation by Toronto artists Chris Kuzma, Ginette Lapalme and Patrick Kyle. Using Broken Pencil’s Canzine event at The Gladstone Hotel as a venue, the three emerging artists will take over a room of the hotel and transform it into a psychedelic cave-like atmosphere.
Kuzma, Lapalme and Kyle are frequent collaborators. Operating under the moniker Wowee Zonk, the recent OCAD graduates have released a multitude of self-published comic books and zines. To date, the group has presented two gallery shows and a book launch, and has curated Zine Eator, an extravagantly decorated small press booth at this year's Toronto Comic Arts Festival. These experiences inspired the group to take their work into the three dimensional realm for this year’s Canzine.
The group specializes in irony, quirky and bizarre stories and the absurd, and their installation will be rich with the lot. SPELUNKIN’ FER CULKIN is inspired by Macaulay Culkin's character Kevin in the film Home Alone. Kuzma, Lapalme and Kyle tell a story where an evil wizard named Mulkin Kelarkin kidnaps Culkin’s character and holds him hostage in a cavernous lair. The room will serve as a portal through which visitors can be transported to Mulkin Kelarkin's alternate dimension. The ridiculous premise and setting allows the group to do what they do best: create weird, wacky and wonderful things.
